For most, pregnancies are joyful and relatively easy. For preemie mothers and their babies, it is a life and death experience. Our trailer previews a moment in the life of a mother to a premature baby in Sunnybrook’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Each day these babies face challenges just to breathe to stay alive. The mothers have to be strong despite these fears, and be thankful for their babies’ teeny tiny achievements.
Daniela reminds us that life itself is a miracle, not to be taken for granted. We see this miracle in her journey of having not one, but two beautiful preemie babies. The small babies’ arms fit into their father’s wedding band. Watch how the babies, their parents, doctors, and nurses are not courageous once; but TWICE. After hearing her story, you’ll be thankful and amazed at the same time, that two tiny babies can go through so much trauma before being a year old.
Alisse could not find a doctor that would take her on as a Preemie Mama of triplets until she found Sunnybrook’s multiples clinic for high risk mothers. There she was treated with respect and compassion, choosing to keep all three of her babies. Today we are celebrating Alisse’s triplets’ 5th Birthday (Hailey, Joseph, and Phillip). Many accolades to the team at Sunnybrook’s Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) that made this possible.
Parents of Preemie babies are made to feel like they are part of the team, with the doctors and nurses at Sunnybrook’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). They create a sense of community, where parents feel completely supported by their Sunnybrook family, who is always there for them. They make friends for life here, because of shared experiences. Listen to Julia’s teary recap of how extraordinary her Sunnybrook family is…
